Steno researchers nominated for best congress award

Researchers at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC) have been nominated by ‘Københavns Kongres og Event Award’ for the award for best congress in 2016.

Every year, Københavns Kongres og Event Award presents four awards in different categories to Danish hosts and organisers of international congresses and sports events in Copenhagen. SDCC researchers have been nominated in the category ‘Congress host of the year for congresses with less than 1,000 participants’.

In December 2016, researchers from the Diabetes Management research group hosted the ‘Modern Approaches to Diabetes – Self Management and Prevention’ congress, attracting 105 participants from all over the world. In its motivation for the nomination, Københavns Kongres og Event Award highlighted the researchers’ high academic standard, their commitment, and their originality with respect to content and form. This was exemplified by various workshops producing a scientific output and providing solutions which may improve the lives of people with diabetes.

The Leicester Diabetes Centre, an internationally renowned research centre, co-hosted the congress as part of their collaboration with researchers at SDCC in the Alliance for Diabetes Self-Management and Prevention knowledge community.

The congress has been nominated together with two other congresses in the same category. The winners will be announced on 19 April at Copenhagen City Hall.
