Weight loss is a key factor in successful prevention of type 2 diabetes, but effective interventions that individuals can easily integrate into daily life are scarce. Time-restricted eating (TRE) is a novel eating pattern that allows individuals to eat an ad libitum diet within a restricted time interval each day and preliminary findings suggest positive effect on body weight.
The overall aim of this study is to examine to whom and when, how and why TRE may be feasible and to identify strategies leading to maintenance of TRE in daily life. Findings may inform implementation of TRE in real life settings and highlight behavioural aspects contributing to sustainable health promotion activities of overweight and obesity.
The study is a part of the RESET trial investigating the effectiveness of time-restricted eating on behavior and metabolism in overweight individuals at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
