Research area
- Hypertension and arterial stiffness:
Hypertension and risk stratification based on ambulatory blood pressure measurement and arterial stiffness.
- Cardiovascular imaging and microcirculation in diabetes:
Clinical studies investigating biomarkers and screening methods to identify subjects at highest risk of cardiovascular disease. Focus is new approaches to identify early stages of micro- and macrovascular disease using recent advances in technology.
Current research
The DIA HEART study in collaboration with Department of Clinical Physiology, Nuclear Medicine & PET, Rigshospitalet & Cluster for Molecular Imaging, and Steno Diabetes Center Sjælland, Denmark.
The Steno INTEN-CT study, which is a collaboration between the five regional Steno Diabetes Centres, cardiology and medical departments throughout the country and general practitioners.
The study aims to answer:
- Can a cardiac CT scan identify people with type 2 diabetes who have the highest and lowest risk of developing cardiovascular disease?
- Can we get better at balancing for preventive treatment so that we avoid over- and under-treatment?
