Hypomafia - Hypothyroidism, Metabolism and Food Intake

​Investigating changes in hunger and food intake, during the initial six months of levothyroxine therapy in hypothyroidism.

Doctors and patients expects hypothyroid patients to lose weight from treatment of hypothyroidism. However, studies points to patients quickly regaining the initial lost weight, despite an increase in resting energy expenditure. This suggests, that the transition from hypothyroidism to euthyroidism may increase hunger and food intake.

Aim

To investigate changes in hunger and food intake during the first six months of levothyroxine therapy in hypothyroidism.
