Collection of urine sample - Opsamling af urinprøve

Examination of urine for albumin is a preventive examination similar to eye and foot examinations.

Your urine should be examined for albumin content at least once a year. We perform this examination for the purpose of picking the onset of renal impairment at an early stage.

You must collect your urine sample at home and preferably in the morning. Bring the full test glass to SDCC and hand it in at the blood sampling unit.

If your next appointment will be a telephone or video consultation, you can send in your test from a place of dispatch (do not put your sample into a mailbox).

Procedure when you collect urine

You have received a urine collector and a test tube. The collector can be disposed of when you have filled the test tube.

Use morning urine when you collect for the urine test. Fill a minimum of 20 ml urine into
the collector and screw on the lid. Keep the collector vertical.

Break the seal in the lid of the urine collector. Do not poke a finger through the seal, as there is a sharp needle under the rubber diaphragm.

Do not unscrew the lid of the sample container, but press it down over the needle in the hole on the urine cup's lid. The sample container is now automatically filled. Write the date on the sample container.

The urine sample can be kept at maximum 21° Celsius, for a period of 7 days.
