Research area
- Alpha-cell dysfunction
Investigating the mechanisms behind type 1 diabetes (T1D) related dysfunction of alpha cells.
- Stem cell differentiation
Modelling T1D with islets generated from Induced pluripotent stem cells (IPSC)
Current research
My current project is focused on establishing a valid alpha cell model using induced pluripotent stem cells. The protocol of differentiation is one of the major parts of my research, determining the best method of generating IPSC derived alpha cells.
Concurrently, I am investigating the dysfunction of alpha cells seen in people with T1D. Here, I am aiming to investigate multiple aspects to shed light on the mechanisms behind the dysfunction and determining potential targets of intervention to relieve dysfunction.
My research is part of my PhD project, which was started February 2023, and will proceed until January 2026.
