I investigate how chronic low-grade inflammation contributes to cardiac remodeling and dysfunction assessed by advanced echocardiography, and how inflammatory biomarkers and echocardiography can be used to improve risk stratification and predict long-term cardiovascular events and mortality in individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.​
