Biomarkers: The association of different maternal and fetal biomarkers and the risk of type 1 diabetes in the offspring with special focus on long chain n3 fatty acids and the immune-metabolic status.
Current research
Project title: Prenatal immune-modulatory diets and biomarkers in relation to risk of developing T1D during childhood
Aim: To investigate the effect of maternal diet during pregnancy on offspring risk of T1D with special focus on the significance of diets with anti-inflammatory properties. My research is based on the Danish National Birth Cohort (DNBC) and its biobank answering these research questions:
- Is there an association between inflammatory dietary patterns during pregnancy and T1D risk in the offspring?
- Is there an association between maternal and fetal biomarker levels of long chain n-3 fatty acid (LCn3FA) and T1D risk in the offspring?
- Is there an association between maternal and fetal immuno-metabolic status in pregnancy and offspring T1D risk?
