Current research
I do research in novel statistical and epidemiological methods for predicting and detecting individuals at risk of developing diabetes and diabetes complications especially within the field of diabetic retinopathy in both Denmark, Greenland and Guinea-Bissau.
I am involved in several large Steno National Grants projects such as DP-NEXT and MODERN MODY. In addition, predicting optimal screening intervals for diabetes complications, diabetes demography, and health economics, including the development of the STEAM model, which is a large, decision-analytical model aimed at prioritizing treatments among persons with diabetes. In collaboration with Steno Diabetes Center Greenland, I do research on obesity, pregnancy related diabetes and hypertension, retinopathy, hand eczema and the double burden of diabetes and tuberculosis in Greenland.
