People living in the Capital Region of Denmark may be referred to Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen. Treatment is only available to people with an officially registered address in Denmark, and consultations or treatment cannot be purchased privately.
People with type 1 diabetes may be referred to Steno by their GP or by a hospital department.
People with type 2 diabetes may be referred to Steno by their GP. Treatment at Steno is primarily intended for people with more complex type 2 diabetes.

Children and young people may be referred to Steno through the paediatric department responsible for their treatment. The referral is made in consultation with the child or young person and their family.
